Swimming Pool Pumps

Swimming pool pumps are one of the responsible in maintaining the cleanliness of the pool. Having the right pool pump depending on the size of the pool is important in order to make the system work well to avoid water contamination. There are different types of pool pumps to choose from.

Single-Speed Pump

It is the most affordable compared to other pool pumps that's why it is the most popular to the pool owners. This pool pump can remove debris and other dirt with one pump. It operates with 3,450 RPMs (revolutions per minute) on a single motor. Single speed pump is very efficient but it needs a large amount of energy. While it is affordable, as you use it, it can make your energy bill high unless you will shut it off between the time of usage.

Two-Speed Pump

This pump can change its speed. It can be changed from 1,725 RPMs on low speeds to 3,450 RPMs when needed. It is commonly used in spas where the low speed is needed during filtration and higher speed during jet action.

Swimming Pool Filters

The swimming pool filter is a key piece of equipment in your overall pool system, since it carries away dirt, debris and pathogens that have been killed or sanitized by your ultraviolet disinfection system.

Media Filter

Depending on the filter size, water is pushed through a few hundred kilograms of glass media and removed through tubes on the bottom. Unclean water will enter through the top, and the glass media is responsible for trapping unwanted dirt and debris. You’ll need to backwash the filter, or run the water through in reverse to clean out the glass media. Backwashing is required every month, and sand should be replaced every  three to five years.

Diatomaceous Earth, or DE filter

The media bed is made of fossilized exoskeletons of tiny diatoms. They coat the filter housing and act as small sieves. DE filters are effective, and some can filter down to 5 microns. They do require backwashing and may need a higher pressure to run.

Cartridge filter

Water is pushed through a basic cartridge and debris is filtered out. One type of cartridge filter requires frequent replacement once they acquire a certain amount of debris. The more common cartridge filter contains elements that last up to five years, and need to be hosed off and cleaned a few times during the season.

Swimming Pool Chlorination

Chlorinators automatically dispense a certain amount of chlorine into the pool, eliminating the need to sanitise your pool so often by keeping the chlorine levels constant. They can be used in a pool or spa, and some even maintain themselves, and/or are controlled by a remote. The main benefit of an automatic chlorinator is that you can relax about maintaining the chlorine levels, as the device does this for you. The only thing you need to do is check the levels every week or so.

The different types of pool chlorinator include salt, chorine feeders, minerals and Tablets. Choosing a good quality chlorinator will be a better choice in the long run as they will last longer and are less likely to have issues, though they might initially be more expensive.

The Salt Water Pool Chlorinator

This salt chlorinator uses electrolysis to extract chlorine from the salt as it passes through the device. The chlorine is then distributed in selected doses and time intervals. Salt water chlorinators are great for people who prefer to use fewer chemicals in their pool.

MagnaPool®

MagnaPool® uses a unique blend of natural ocean minerals and is the only system that is 100% salt free. The only minerals found in MagnaPool® are a combination of Magnesium and Potassium Chloride both of which work in conjunction with the MagnaPool® Hydroxinator to not only sanitise your pool water, but also keep it crystal clear, healthy and silky smooth.

MagnaPool® minerals are delivered in a specific ratio that through years of testing we have found these to be the most comfortable. Our patented blend is 70% potassium chloride and 30% magnesium chloride and at this ratio MagnaPool® provides the most natural and superior water quality, along with a range of benefits plus a level of comfort for the swimmer that is unsurpassed. There is no other product available today like it

Magnesium Chloride is absorbed through the skin at cellular level. This extremely important mineral can aid in the reduction of stress, anxiety, aches and pains. It also plays a vital part in detoxifying the body.

Potassium Chloride when combined with Magnesium is a wonderful solution that naturally nourishes plants and grass. MagnaPool’s mineral blend is so gentle on the environment that when diluted 5:1 in a tank, it can be used to irrigate lawns and gardens.

Tri Intelligent Water Care System

This chlorine feeder uses inbuilt intelligence to deliver a programmed dose of chlorine at set intervals. The bonus of this system is that it not only manages the dosage, but also monitors pool chemistry and alerts you if there is a problem.

In addition to detecting a problem with the water balance, the device also adjusts its dosage to fix the problem. The pH of the pool is also not a worry with this system in place. Plus, if you want to be in even more control, you can also purchase a remote to make controlling the water care system even easier.

Tablet Feeder

The tablet feeder can be filled with chlorine tablets or bromine depending on your pool’s needs. The tablets are then dispensed into your pool when required, taking the hard work out of dosing your pool. The tablet feeder is a particularly low cost form of automatic sanitation, and is guaranteed to be a long lasting solution to your pool chlorination needs with its robust construction, corrosion and UV resistant casing.

Very easy to use and control, simply insert tablets and away you go. The only downside to this sort of chlorinator is that they usually do not check the pool’s pH, only the chlorine levels.
